Plant Operative (Landfill & IBA Processing)
Salary – £14.96 per hour
Hours – 45 hours per week, 6:30-16:30 Monday to Friday
Location – Whisby Landfill, LN6 9BT
As a Plant Operative at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for operating the mobile plant to aid in the acceptance and placement of waste inputs from customers. You will maximise void utilisation, manage the reception and maturation of IBA prior to processing, and maintain all site equipment in line with FCC procedures.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days a week.

What will you be doing?
- Operating mobile plant (including wheeled loading shovel, excavator, tractor, telehandler, and bowser) to process and manage waste safely and efficiently
- Assisting with the acceptance, placement, and covering of waste in line with environmental and permit requirements
- Managing the reception, pre-screening, and maturation of IBA stockpiles prior to processing
- Carrying out daily checks, refuelling, cleaning, and routine maintenance of site machinery and equipment
- Reporting faults, defects, incidents, and near misses promptly
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across the site, including welfare areas
- Promoting a strong safety culture and excellent customer service
- Identifying and managing non-conforming waste materials

Essential skills and experience include:
- Previous experience working on a waste acceptance site, landfill, or IBA processing facility
- Qualifications or tickets for operating heavy plant (wheeled loading shovel, excavator, telehandler, tractor, or similar)
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to health and safety
- Willingness to undertake additional training and complete required competency modules
