An exciting opportunity has come up within the Council's Development Management Team as a Planning Assistant. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual who would like to start their career in Development Management in a busy Planning Development Service.
Candidates will benefit from a varied workload gaining experience in a number of areas of Development Management including Green Belt policy, flood plain, heritage and National Landscape.
In this role you would:
Ensure all allocated applications are determined in accordance with government performance targets
Undertake site visits and meet members of the public on a regular basis
Draft reports for delegated applications and Committee matters.
Provide informal planning advice on applications and policy to a range of stakeholders
To succeed in this role you would need to demonstrate
Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with people
Show ability in providing sound advice and guidance
Be able to work independently and as part of a team
Be able to work calmly under pressure
Have excellent time management and organisational skills
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be computer literate
Qualifications
Educated to degree level is essential with a planning or related degree desirable
A full Driving Licence
