Role: DISPENSER / Dispensing Assistant
NOTE: This position is not open for overseas applicants except for those with UK settled status or an independent of someone with a valid working permit.
Weekly Schedule: Minimum of 28 hours weekly, with some flexibility in covering staffing needs. Requirement to work closer to full time can also be discussed.
Must Weekly Rota
Monday & Friday-- 9am to 6:30pm (1 hour unpaid break// 17 hours shift)
11 hours: To be discussed with the applicant for availability. Some flexibility will be required to support the business needs
The pay rate advertised is a guide only and pay can be negotiated based on experience and qualification.
Qualification, Experience and Other Requirements
We are looking for a dispenser or dispensing assistant with at least an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent UK qualification (Scotland, Norther Ireland, or recognised in-house Pharmacy Training from Boots, Well, Lloyds etc). We can also support training transfer from Buttercups and Skills4Pharmacy if the training remains active and this must be endorsed by current mentor or the training provider.
As with most dispensing pharmacy role, prolonged movement and standing during your shift is expected with light to medium lifting, reaching out and picking things from bottom shelves, going up and down steps/ stairs and constant use of display equipment.
Attention to detail is essential and a caring communication style for patients, customers, and colleagues so proven reading and comprehension skills will guarantee patient safety and suitability to the role.
.Required Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a UK pharmacy.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient care by accurately dispensing medications and offering guidance on their proper use.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure the safe handling of medications according to the SOP and the manufacturing recommendations on storage.
- Facilitate sales of OTC and P-meds, and help maintain a presentable retail area by supporting the ordering of retail stock, pricing and ensuring a good display of stocks.
- Support the pharmacists and the branch in higher services patient intake by actively identifying opportunistic service gaps through effective patient and customer engagement.
- Maintain inventory levels and assist in the management of pharmaceutical supplies including dispensing consumables.
- Educate patients and health and social care partners on medication adherence and potential side effects.
- Uphold compliance with health regulations and pharmacy standards.
- Act as mentor to younger new colleagues when required.
- Perform hygiene and infection control of the premises with your colleagues in line with SOPs. This also includes safe handling and processing of returned and waste medicines.
