Patient Administrator

Location – Newmedica Cheshire Oaks

Who are we?

At Newmedica, we’re one of England’s leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services, offering outpatient appointments, diagnostic testing, and eye surgery. Our mission is simple: to change lives through better sight and eye health.

We care for thousands of NHS and private patients each year across our specialist eye clinics nationwide. With ambitious growth plans, we’re expanding our footprint across the UK to bring our services to even more communities.

We’re proud to have been certified as a Great Place to Work for the second year running, and we’ve been named one of the UK’s Top 50 Best Workplaces™ for 2025 - a recognition based entirely on feedback from our colleagues.

The Role: Patient Administrator

We’re looking for a proactive and personable Patient Administrator to join our team at the Cheshire Oaks. This is a 40 hours over 5 days per week role, with some Saturday working required on a rota basis.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll be responsible for a range of administrative tasks, including:

  • Booking patient appointments
  • Handling incoming and outgoing calls and emails
  • Managing post and correspondence
  • Responding to patient and team enquiries

We’re looking for a self-starter, someone who takes initiative, anticipates what needs to be done, and is proactive in getting things moving. You’ll need to be confident working both independently and as part of our core admin team, where constant communication with colleagues, management, and the clinical team is essential. You’ll also be a natural communicator who enjoys engaging with people and can put patients at ease - especially when they may be feeling anxious about their treatment.

What we’re looking for

While full training will be provided, the following experience and qualities would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or patient-facing role
  • Background in a busy administrative environment
  • Confident using Office 365 and quick to learn new systems (e.g. patient record systems)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A calm, professional phone manner
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • A team player who’s always ready to support colleagues when needed
  • A people person who builds rapport easily and brings a positive energy to the team

What we offer

  • A salary of £26,208
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company pension scheme
  • Access to a range of benefits including:
  • Free eye tests and discounted or free glasses
  • 24/7 well-being, counselling, and advice service
  • Retail and technology discount scheme
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • A supportive, multidisciplinary team passionate about patient care
  • A bright, modern, and purpose-built working environment

If you’d like an informal chat about the opportunity or to request a full job description, please contact robyn.gunner@newmedica.co.uk
