OVERVIEW
The primary purpose of the Packing Department Manager (White Sugar) is to safely and hygienically manage cost efficient packing of all products within the White Sugar Packing Department, ensuring agreed quantity and quality levels are achieved in order to meet customer and marketing requirements.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage Safety, Hygiene, Environment and Quality consistent with the T&L Sugars Management Systems to achieve continuous improvement.
- Achieve high OEE at minimum cost through effective management of packing and support resource. Specifically, improving changeover processes, reducing downtime and addressing root causes of performance restrictions.
- Meet agreed customer requirements from planned production orders through to availability for offsite shipment.
- Through the Packing Maintenance Department Manager develop the correct maintenance and spares holding strategy to deliver the OEE improvements.
- Develop, maintain and review appropriate service level relationships with support services e.g. Refining, Quality & Purchasing.
- Develop the organisational structure and personnel consistent with the business needs.
- Develop and control Packing costs and budgets.
- Develop, maintain and review interface with Sales, Marketing and Planning, to facilitate optimum T&L solutions for customer supply e.g. involvement and support for New Product Introduction and Contract Packers.
WORK EXPERIENCES
- Exposure to commercial management and budget control.
- Good understanding of Packing principles.
- Experience in managing aspects of Safety, Hygiene, Environment and Quality.
- Evidence of progression and departmental management experience in blue chip manufacturing organisation.
- Significant change management implementation experience is essential.
- Experience of continuous improvement.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Technical graduate (ideally engineering), or equivalent experience in Packing Operations.
