welding, haulage, and heavy plant sales sectors, with a strong focus on delivering top-quality after-sales support. Our clients span the construction, recycling, and plant hire industries across the UK. We're seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Operations Assistant to support the smooth running of day-to-day operations across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of daily workshop, haulage, and service operations.
- Track and manage work orders, job cards, and service schedules.
- Support stock control and inventory management for parts, consumables, and workshop tools.
- Liaise with engineers, welders, drivers, and sales teams to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
Customer & After-Sales Service:
- Coordinate after-sales support requests, booking service engineers or fitters as needed.
- Maintain customer service records and follow up to ensure client satisfaction.
- Help manage warranty claims and parts returns.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes, and relevant paperwork for operations and logistics.
- Maintain accurate records of plant sales, service history, and transport logistics.
- Support compliance documentation including health & safety, LOLER certificates, and vehicle maintenance logs.
Logistics & Haulage:
- Schedule and track collections/deliveries with haulage drivers and subcontractors.
- Liaise with customers regarding delivery times, access requirements, and on-site needs.
Cross-Departmental Coordination:
- Work closely with sales, service, and workshop teams to streamline internal communication.
- Provide real-time updates on plant availability, job progress, and scheduling.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar operations, logistics, or engineering admin role.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering, welding, or plant machinery (desirable).
- Strong IT skills: MS Office, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and job tracking software.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking ability.
- Confident communicator with internal teams and customers.
- Proactive, hands-on attitude with a strong attention to detail.
