Nursery Cook

Purpose of post

To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children in our care.

Key areas

Main duties

To be responsible for the weekly shopping list ensuring that you have sufficient ingredients to follow the settings menu and to provide food for the number of children in the setting.
To prepare meals according to individual dietary requirements where necessary.
To ensure meals and snacks are safely prepared, nutritionally balanced, of good quality and appropriate in quantity following government recommendations for Early Years and Child Care Settings.
To have an understanding about regulations relating to allergies.
To co-ordinate the serving of a two course mid-day meal, a light tea and an afternoon snack.
To wash-up and put away the crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals and what has been used for dining.
To have effective communication systems in place to ensure appropriate information is passed on.
To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessments within the kitchen area, including all required record keeping.
To be responsible for food safety within the setting including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation .
To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.
Training can be provided.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 25 per week

Salary: £12.50 per hour dependant on experience.

Schedule: 9.15am- 2.30pm (includes a 15 minute break)
