We are seeking an experienced and passionate cook to join our nursery team for 15-20 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for our children while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and create seasonal, nutritious menus that cater to various dietary requirements and allergies
- Prepare and cook fresh, healthy meals and snacks for children and staff
- Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene standards and follow food safety regulations
- Manage kitchen stock levels and place orders with suppliers
- Monitor food costs and work within allocated budgets
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and areas
- Keep accurate records of temperature checks, deliveries, and stock rotation
- Work collaboratively with nursery staff to accommodate children's dietary needs
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Experience in catering or professional cooking
- Knowledge of nutritional requirements for young children
- Understanding of food allergies and dietary requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication abilities
