About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Multi-Trade Maintenance Operative to join our team at a brand-new 200-bedroom student accommodation building . This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new development from day one, ensuring the building remains in top condition and provides a safe, comfortable environment for its residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance across the site, ensuring minimal disruption to residents
- Deliver multi-trade repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting & decorating, minor electrical, and general handyman tasks
- Perform weekly and monthly compliance checks, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting, and water flushing
- Respond to maintenance tickets and keep accurate records of work carried out
- Support building setup, room readiness, and ongoing maintenance after student check-ins
- Identify potential issues early and report accordingly to prevent major defects
- Ensure health & safety compliance in all work and communal areas
- Liaise professionally with site management, contractors, and residents when required
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role
- Should have own van and be able to drive
- Should have own tools
- Must be able to do all types of maintenace work to do with residential properties
- Competence in at least two core trades (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, painting, basic electrical)
- Understanding of UK building safety regulations and basic compliance procedures
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- CSCS card (desirable but not essential)
- Basic IT skills to use internal reporting systems
- Strong customer service attitude and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks efficiently
