The Sheffield Liaison Psychiatry Service are looking for outstanding clinicians to join our team.

The Liaison Psychiatry Service is currently affiliated with the Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network (PLAN) and are working towards accreditation. We received over 5000 referrals (365day/24hrs a day) into our service through in the last financial NHS year. Person centred care is at the heart of our practice and we work hard to support each other through the day-to-day challenges of working in this demanding role.

We are firm believers in evidence-based practice and are currently involved in a national research project ‘Fresh Start’, offering adapted therapies delivered by Mental Health Practitioners to people who otherwise may struggle to access services.

We deliver a high standard of early triage, assessment and follow up intervention to individuals aged 16 or above admitted to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, working with a range of mental health presentations. Variety is certainly guaranteed in the role and will serve to enhance your clinical skills.

Consideration will be given to both full-time and part-time working, the salary will be pro rata for part-time hours.

Please ensure you read the post’s job description and person specification and that your supporting information reflects this as your application will be judged against these criteria.

If you take the decision to apply and are successful, you will receive a robust induction package where you will be given the opportunity to spend time with all relevant services across Sheffield Health and Social Care. There is opportunity for development and further training.

We are passionate about providing the very best care to the people we support, and we're looking for amazing people who share this passion to join us.

What is it that makes our Trust such a special place to work? Well, it's all about the people. Our staff, service users, carers and families all come from such diverse backgrounds and all have expertise and stories to share.

It’s important that you feel supported in your role, that the people who you work with are as passionate as you are and that your health and wellbeing is taken care of

If you're interested in developing your career, you'll have access to a range of training and education opportunities, including apprenticeships, work experience and placements, as well as the chance to get involved in research.

We are all very proud of the difference we make to people's lives each and every day and if that's something that you'd like to be part of we'd love to have you with us.

You will need to demonstrate relevant experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting across secondary mental health services and with other partner agencies – particularly working alongside Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, CAMHS, Social Care and the Police. Experience of working with service users experiencing mental health crisis is essential. Experience of leading on service user's care and working autonomously is desirable.

You will possess excellent clinical triaging and assessment skills using a Biopsychosocial model and be able to work effectively with service users and their relevant others to formulate collaborative plans prior to their discharge from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Knowledge and understanding of PDR and supervision processes are also essential requirements for the post together with a commitment to the appraiser and supervisor role. We promote regular supervision and team discussion / debrief as part of our working culture.

Additionally, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, be motivated, able to work independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team and with other partnership agencies. You should have a positive approach to meeting the needs of our service users and be able to demonstrate continued professional development.

So, if you are a Registered Mental Health Nurse , Level 2 Social Worker or Occupational Therapist who is passionate about crisis mental health care, then please consider applying for this role.
