Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tutor to provide academic support and guidance to students of various ages. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals. This role involves working closely with students to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, creating tailored lesson plans, and fostering a positive learning environment.
The Learning Academy Lanark provides maths tuition to secondary students and adults preparing for SQA qualifications at all levels of Maths up to Advanced Higher in line with the Scottish curriculum, in person and/or online, after school hours.

Professional Responsibilities
· Teaching small groups of students online and or face to face.
· Supporting students to use our bespoke learning programme.
· Planning individually tailored lessons using our bespoke platform and wide variety of resources.
· Providing feedback to parents after each lesson.
Essential Criteria
· A desire to make a difference.
· GTCS registered with recent teaching experience.
· PVG approval essential
· Engaging personality with the ability to quickly build positive working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
· IT competent.
· Strong planning and organisational skills.
Full tutor training will be provided using The Learning Academy Teaching Materials.
Our sessions run between 4:00pm and 5.00pm Monday – Thursday.

Salary starts from £30 per hour lessons and is inclusive of lesson planning and parent feedback and holiday entitlement is built into this payment.
To be considered for the role, all candidates must have an updated PVG and a minimum of 1 year classroom experience.

Duties
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in various subjects.
- Assess students' learning needs and develop personalised lesson plans.
- Provide clear explanations of concepts and assist with homework assignments.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere to enhance student confidence.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and educators regarding progress and challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and feedback.
Skills
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, with a strong understanding of educational principles.
- Experience working with children, demonstrating patience and adaptability in different learning situations.
- Knowledge of special education practices is an advantage, enabling support for diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively to students and parents alike.
