Objectives
This is a non-supervisory position, which will be responsible for receiving, storage, processing / cutting various metals by using Plate and Band saws, Guillotine and Waterjet cutting and the packaging of metals ready for dispatch / shipping.
The Machine Operator will be required to use various measuring devices (micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Tape rule) as well as the fork lift truck as part of their normal work activities.
Computer literacy and experience / interaction with Computers is required, training on the company systems will be offered to the successful candidate.

The general work environment is a Metal storage and distribution warehouse. The individual must be able to handle cold conditions in the winter and hot conditions in the summer time and be capable of managing general material handling activities such as bending, lifting and carrying.
Specific Duties
- Receive metals upon delivery to warehouse
- Inspect metals upon receipt and after cutting
- Operate various cutting machines: Plate / Band saw, Guillotine
- Package and prepare raw and cut materials for shipping/ dispatch
- Responsible for general housekeeping (5S) activities / chores along with other Operational Team members
- Adhere to ALL company safety policies / practices and Operational procedures
- Other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Essential Criteria:
GSCE Mathematics Grade C or above (CSE Grade 1) to be able to perform general addition and subtraction and other calculations of the job
GCSE English Grade C or above (CSE Grade 1) to enable effective communication with floor personnel and work as part of a small team
Minimum 1 year’s experience in a manufacturing/engineering/warehouse environment
Available to work shifts when required
Ability to follow instructions and perform daily work with minimal supervision
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
May occasionally need to lift up to 75 lbs
Current and valid Driving Licence is essential. Candidates may be required to drive the delivery van and be able to pass fork lift truck training to receive their licence and perform daily tasks.
Desirable Criteria:
Working knowledge and experience in use of guillotines and saws
Knowledge of Lean practices / management.
