The department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment is a world-leading centre for business, citizenship, computing, economics, geography, history, mathematics, religious education, science and social sciences education. A core strength of the Department is in the study, support and improvement of pedagogy, curriculum and assessment through multidisciplinary programmes.

The Department hosts top-rated initial teacher education programmes, including Secondary PGCE, innovative Masters programmes and a wide range of continuing professional development courses. The department is also home to four research centres: Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education, Centre for Holocaust Education, Centre for Teachers and Teaching Research and the Development Education Research Centre.
