Are you passionate about Immersive and Emerging Technologies? Keen to deliver excellent teaching and take part in innovative research? Excited about working closely with industry partners? Come and join our brilliant team at UCA!
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Immersive and Emerging Technologies to join our outstanding team of educators, practitioners, and researchers.
The School of Creative and Cultural Industries (UCA Farnham) is a vibrant community of students, academic teaching staff, researchers, and industry specialists, working together to create innovative creative practice and research. Central to the school’s ethos is the combination of high-quality teaching, leading research, and vibrant knowledge exchange with industry partners.
The school has strong relationships with the creative technology and gaming sectors, as well as a designated incubator programme to support students to develop creative IP. Students are encouraged to promote their excellent work externally, and we are looking for a practice-based lecturer that is excited about exploring the potential of this. We are also the Headquarters of ISEA International, which is an international non-profit organisation fostering interdisciplinary academic discourse and exchange among culturally diverse organisations and individuals working with art, science, and technology.
Over the last few years, the school has attracted over £3M additional funding to support facilities, research, and knowledge exchange, producing some exciting industry-facing collaborations. As well as industry-level games and creative technology labs, the School boasts facilities including motion capture, volumetric capture, and virtual production. The role will be based at the Farnham campus, just outside Guildford and will directly report to the School’s Programme Director for Computing and Creative Technology.
UCA is seeking to recruit dynamic and innovative educators and we are seeking a candidate who will ideally have experience working in higher education student facing delivery, including curriculum design aligned to creative technology practice.
The position will be complimenting and enhancing the delivery and development of the Computing and Creative Technology academic programme within the School of Games and Creative Technology at UCA.
The principal function of this role will be to develop and coordinate teaching and learning activities for the AR/VR/XR aspects of our creative technology courses and, potentially, delivering to related courses within the School as required. We are also interested in applications from candidates with experience working across AI and Creative Practice.
You will have a good honours degree, ideally a postgraduate degree, great professional experience, and detailed knowledge of contemporary developments in the subject area and wider creative industries. You may also have an interest in research and/or your own professional practice.
At UCA, creativity and innovation are at the heart of what we do. Our legacy of educating eager and passionate artists, makers and thinkers runs back almost 160 years, and today we’re helping shape a global future that supports and nourishes talent worldwide.
You must be able to demonstrate good team working abilities, as well as good organisational and communication skills. The teaching duties will include all related course administration and require the successful candidate to be pro-active in developing new learning and teaching methods. You will also be required to participate in marketing and student recruitment activities and to potentially engage in professional research in the subject area.
Are you ready to share your passion for creativity with the next generation of creative technologists? If so, we want to hear from you.
