At Mini Athletics Havering, we offer high-energy, fun-filled athletics classes for children aged 2-8, helping them develop physical skills, confidence, and teamwork in a supportive and energetic environment. As Lead Coach, you will be at the heart of each session, delivering structured, engaging, and imaginative lessons while providing positive encouragement to both children and families.
About the Role:
As Lead Coach, you will lead athletics-based classes, ensuring every session is safe, engaging, and fun. You will collaborate with an assistant coach (where applicable), using our proven lesson plans and resources to create an unforgettable experience for every child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage and Inspire: Warmly welcome children and parents, setting a positive tone for each session.
- Lead Fun and Creative Sessions: Deliver structured, imaginative, and energizing activities based on Mini Athletics’ lesson plans.
- Team Management: Motivate and guide your assistant coach, ensuring seamless teamwork and session delivery.
- Accurate Record Keeping: Keep track of attendance and promptly report any issues or concerns.
- Create Memorable Experiences: Encourage participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and patience through enjoyable activities.
- Maintain a Safe and Positive Environment: Ensure a supportive atmosphere with clear boundaries and positive behaviour guidance.
- Distribute Kits and Information: Provide children with vests and kits, and distribute newsletters to parents.
- Support the Team: Answer parents’ questions as needed and refer them to the franchise owners for further inquiries.
- Venue Management: Ensure the venue is left clean and ready for the next session.
- Flexibility: Be open to covering additional classes when necessary.
- Ongoing Learning: Attend all necessary training and refresher courses offered by Mini Athletics.
- Professional Representation: Always represent Mini Athletics with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a Lead Coach who is:
- Experienced: Ideally, you have prior experience in coaching, teaching, or childcare for children aged 2-8.
- Confident and Energetic: You bring energy and enthusiasm to every session and are passionate about helping children grow.
- Great Communicator: You can clearly and warmly communicate with both children and parents.
- Organised and Reliable: You lead with structure, reliability, and strong organizational skills.
- Passionate About Physical Activity: You love inspiring children to be active, play, and build their physical literacy.
- DBS Certified: You hold (or are willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS check.
- First Aid Certified: You hold (or are willing to get trained for) at least a First Aid at Work certificate
- Flexible and Local: You are available for training and willing to cover local sessions as needed.
