Responsibilities will include:
- Manage the full content development lifecycle—from needs analysis through to training evaluation—for a variety of audiences including maintainers, operators, and internal staff.
- Collaborate with engineering, product teams, and subject matter experts to design high-quality Instructor Led Training (ILT), Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT), eLearning, and video-based training content.
- Write clear, skills-focused content aligned with defined learning objectives.
- Create valid, authentic and robust assessments to assure competency.
- Present learning concepts and prototypes to stakeholders and incorporate feedback into final deliverables.
- Maintain and continuously improve existing training materials to ensure relevance, accuracy, and learner engagement.
- Oversee the management and evolution of our Learning Management System (LMS) for internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness using feedback, performance data, and analytics—and drive refinements based on insights.
- Champion a blended learning approach across digital, ILT, and hybrid delivery methods.
- Support the wider training strategy by contributing to scalable, flexible learning solutions that align with organisational goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Education or a relevant discipline is a plus; equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
- 3+ years of professional experience in teaching, training, instructional design and content development.
- Expert knowledge of instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
- Proficient with:
- Articulate Storyline and Rise
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Video editing tools (e.g. Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar)
- Animation platforms (e.g. Motion, After Effects or similar)
- Experience in managing and administering LMS platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to engage cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional organisation and time-management capabilities, especially in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
- Creative and curious, with a passion for developing innovative learning experiences across a range of formats.
- Passion for continuous improvement in both content quality and learner outcomes.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Defence direction and guidance for training and education (JSP 822) / Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
- Experience in developing technical product maintenance training programmes.
- Experience in creating technical publications using S1000D specification (or similar).
- Experience in video production and graphic design for learning purposes.
- Confidence in delivering ILT and VILT.
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
