We are seeking to recruit a full-time Health and Safety Adviser within our busy Health and Safety Team, located within the Risk and Audit function of Corporate Resources
Working out of Magdalen House, Bootle (with a hybrid working option available), the Health and Safety team provides advice and guidance to the Council, whilst seeking assurances on occupational health, safety and wellbeing matters and working closely with Risk and Audit colleagues (including Risk and Resilience, Insurance, Assurance and Internal Audit), as well as other teams such as HR, the Health Unit, Public Health, Property Services, Workforce Learning and Development and various Service Managers.
This role will coordinate and provide support for Sefton schools that have a service level agreement in place, whilst also providing day-to-day support and monitoring of the corporate function.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Assisting the Senior Health and Safety Adviser and other health and safety staff in providing advice and support on Health and Safety matters, whilst ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation across the Council.
Supporting the delivery of the Council’s Health and Safety Strategy, annual improvement, plan and audit and inspection programmes, whilst providing formal feedback to corporate management and schools on the significant findings of any audit or inspection, highlighting practical recommendations to address key weaknesses identified.
Monitoring and responding to the accident, incident and RIDDOR database, as well as other safety related databases and controlling and coordinating the administrative function of the team (including arranging invoice payments).
Assisting the health and safety team with the production of data and briefing papers for event safety management meetings and health and safety committee meetings.
