About the role
Job Title: General Adviser
Role: Halton Citizens Advice are seeking to recruit a full time General Adviser to join our team to deliver advice and information to clients via our face to face, telephone and digital services.
You will assist clients on a range of advice issues including welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment and discrimination. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be self-motivated, with strong IT skills, and have the ability to contribute positively whilst having a flexible approach to service delivery.
You should have knowledge of the advice areas noted above and experience of advice work in a legal advice service or similar setting.
The role is open to applicants to start at a trainee level.
Please note that this is a temporary post, initially funded to the end of March 2026.
Location: Citizens Advice Halton – Widnes and Runcorn (the role may include working at outreach locations).
Salary: Trainee General Adviser £23,114
General Adviser £24,720 - £25,750 [+ up to 4% pension/pro rata for part time] *Starting salary dependent on skills and experience
Hours: 35 hours per week (Full time)
Leave: 25 days holiday per annum + bank holidays (pro rata for part time)
