.As the Nursery Cook, you will be ensuring the children have access to a variety of healthy and tasty snacks and meals each day, including planning and preparing menus, and engaging the children in enjoyable nutritional experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
· Effective daily management of the setting kitchen supported by the Nursery Managers
· Preparation weekly menus, cook and present age appropriate food to a high standard
· Maintaining an exceptional level of cleanliness and food hygiene
· Keeping the kitchen a tidy, safe and pleasant environment for the children in our care.
· Working collaboratively with the nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet, and seeing all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated
· Using nominated suppliers, check all deliveries are accurate, and paperwork is kept up to date.
· Working with suppliers to promote best practice within the nursery by ensuring products and supplies are appropriate for a nursery environment.
· Be responsible and lead on any inspections relating to the kitchen area e.g. Environmental Health and FSA
· Pro-active and professional in your approach to engaging with staff; children and families.
· Working in partnership with the nursery team and parents to support the Funfishers care and education provision.
· Have a sound knowledge of all Funfishers nursery policies and procedures.
· Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and regulatory requirements
· Take responsibility to see that we meet the legal and nursery requirements for fire, safety, health and hygiene and necessary paperwork is completed.
· Support, promote and implement any additional policies as appropriate in your job role.
· Demonstrate a proactive approach, using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting tasks done.
Compliance:
· Ensure adherence to EYFS standards and other relevant Early Years Framework
· Ensure adherence to Food Standards Agency regulations
· Support in ensuring the nursery meets all Ofsted requirements
Professional Development:
· Attend regular training sessions and keep up to date with early years’ best practices.
· Participate in regular appraisals and professional development planning.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
· Food Hygiene level 2 or above
· Safeguarding (or a willingness to obtain)
· Paediatric first aid (or a willingness to obtain)
Experience
· Working within a busy kitchen environment
· Managing food related allergies
· Implementation of health and hygiene policies and procedures
· Using administrative software such as excel, word and databases etc.

Additional Requirements:
