Inspire Through Nature – Join Our Forest School Team in Bridgwater for 2025!
Do you believe that the best classrooms have no walls? Are you passionate about outdoor learning and helping young people grow through hands-on experiences in nature?
We’re expanding our team in 2025 and seeking a Level 3 Forest School Leader to deliver inspiring outdoor sessions in our beautiful woodland setting.
Somerset Cultural Centre, Knowle Hall, Bawdrip, Bridgwater
Forest School Leader (Part-Time / Weekend Work Required)
Step into our woodland classroom and lead creative, practical outdoor learning experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a deep respect for the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver imaginative, engaging Forest School sessions that promote exploration, resilience, and a connection to the natural world
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive outdoors
- Support the development of students’ confidence, teamwork, independence, and environmental awareness
- Adapt sessions to meet the varied needs of both EAL (Chinese) and local learners
- Use natural resources and seasonal changes to guide hands-on, practical learning experiences
- Collaborate with teaching colleagues to align outdoor learning with wider programme themes and educational goals
- Ensure high standards of health, safety, and safeguarding during all outdoor activities and site use
- Maintain and manage Forest School tools, materials, and areas, requesting resources as needed
- Respond positively to reasonable requests that contribute to the smooth running of the Centre’s educational provision
Requirements
- Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification (essential)
- Experience delivering Forest School sessions or outdoor learning with children aged 11–14 (desirable)
- A genuine passion for outdoor education and sustainability
- Willingness to work some weekends and during school holidays when student groups are on-site
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) clearance will be required
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

The Yew Wah International Education Foundation (YWIEF) brings together over 90 years of international education experience through its sister organisation, Yew Chung Education Foundation.
At the Somerset Cultural Centre, based at the historic Knowle Hall in Bridgwater, we provide immersive English language and cultural programmes for visiting Chinese students. Our Forest School sessions are a vital part of helping students develop life skills such as resilience, independence, creativity, and teamwork while building a lifelong connection to nature.
