Job Purpose:
To install, repair, and maintain various types of flooring in social housing properties, ensuring high-quality workmanship, compliance with safety regulations, and customer satisfaction
Key Responsibilities:
· Floor Installation: Fit a range of flooring types, including vinyl, carpet, laminate, hardwood, and safety flooring.
· Subfloor Preparation: Assess and prepare subfloors, including levelling, screeding, and moisture testing.
· Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out repairs on damaged flooring, including patching, re-stretching carpets, and replacing worn sections.
· Adhesive & Fixing Methods: Apply appropriate adhesives, underlays, and fixing techniques for different flooring materials.
· Health & Safety Compliance: Follow regulations, including COSHH guidelines for adhesives and site safety protocols.
· Site Inspections: Conduct pre-installation assessments to ensure correct measurements and material suitability.
· Customer & Stakeholder Liaison: Work with tenants, housing officers, and contractors to coordinate access and resolve issues.
· Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate job records, timesheets, and digital documentation.
· Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure tools and machinery are properly maintained and stored.
· Out-of-Hours Work: Participate in emergency call-outs for urgent flooring repairs.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience in floor fitting, particularly in social housing or residential settings.
- Knowledge of various flooring materials and installation techniques.
- Ability to assess and prepare subfloors effectively.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations, including PPE requirements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Floor Covering or a related trade.
- Experience working in social housing environments.
- Proficiency in using job management systems or handheld digital devices.
- Asbestos awareness and first aid training.
