Job description
The Finance Business Team at South Cambridgeshire District Council has a vacancy for a Finance Business Partner to cover a period of maternity leave.
We are looking for someone with drive, initiative, and confidence to join our Financial Planning & Business Partnering team.
As a critical partner you will provide support to one of the Councils shared directorates: Transformation in a business partnering approach. The role will include preparation of budgets, budget monitoring, preparation of annual accounts along with supporting managers to deliver financially sustainable services through the provision of high-quality financial advice and support.
We are seeking an individual who is motivated by delivering outcomes to help budget managers move their service areas forward. This is a high-profile role and requires good collaborative skills to ensure finance services provided are professional and client driven. We want you to help create the financial foundations that will shape the future of the Council.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is AAT qualified or Part-Qualified in one of the professional accounting bodies (ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA).
- Has an extensive accountancy and finance background.
- Can be flexible and is able to work in a fast-paced financial environment where deadlines and priorities may change.
- Can work on their own initiative as well as being part a wider finance team.
- Has experience of administering financial processes and providing support in these areas such as the Finance Management System, Statutory reporting, Budgeting and Forecasting.
- Can constructively challenge and has excellent communication skills to consult with senior managers, budget holders, Members, and external stakeholders.
- Has experience in setting up and maintaining successful partnerships.
- Has a strong finance background with a proven record in financial and management reporting.
- Has a high diligence and accuracy with the ability to deal with large and complex levels of data.
- Has proficiency in Excel.
- Can supervise, motivate, and coach staff and contribute to technical skills development within the team.
