We are recruiting an enthusiastic and caring bank rehab assistant/support worker who has experience of working with young adults with additional needs. This is an ideal role for someone interested or studying in the fields of brain injury rehabilitation, psychology, occupational therapy or physiotherapy. You will be working with an outgoing, adventurous young lady, who has cerebral palsy.
You will be responsible for enabling the client to lead a fulfilling social life, including enabling access to university, enabling the client to develop and maintain meaningful friendships, assisting in researching, planning, booking and taking part in fun activities with friends. May also include weekend day trips, longer trips around the UK, and trips abroad. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with activities of daily living, including personal care, domestic tasks, maximising the client’s physical and psychological well-being and always maintaining safety.
Working hours:
Hours will vary and include weekdays and weekends, as required. More hours may be available during school holidays and support is especially needed over these periods.
Rates of pay:
£15.50 per hour weekdays
£17.50 per hour weekends
£138.00 weekday night flat rate
£142.00 weekend night flat rate
Requirements:
- Relevant experience relating to the key goals of the role, as outlined in the job description
- Responsible, trustworthy and very reliable person
- Genuine caring, sensitive and patient profile
- Confident, creative and independent, with the ability to take the initiative and work alone
- Outgoing, fun and adventurous personality, who can provide good company and who will enjoy talking with the client and taking part in planned activities
- Good communicator
- Ability to work using IT for email and support worker documentation
- A full and clean driving licence is essential, and you must be happy to drive on motorways and long distance as required. Vehicle insurance requires that applicants be at least 21 years of age.
An NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise, the applicant must be willing to undertake care Certificate Training.
