The successful applicant will be a real team player, reliable, happy, show commitment to the business and really understand the importance of customers and delivering the best possible experience for them. Reliability is crucial as is the ability to take responsibility in a very busy area. Supervisor experience in the hospitality industry is useful as is barista training, though neither is essential and training can be given.
The position is a Front of house role hybrid Barista position, based in all areas of the train and reception. It can be physically demanding as this is a long train! It will complement the existing team activities. The hours are flexible and more, or fewer hours can easily be arranged if required. No evening work is required.
The position is permanent and offers a wonderful and special opportunity for someone to develop a career within the industry in this busy, award-winning venue. The work is varied and can be demanding but the team is close-knit and welcoming and boredom is never an issue! The train is 80 metres long and all areas are served so there is a lot of walking and carrying - no need for gym membership!
Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
- - Provide and focus on delivery of the highest standards of customer sevice from a warm welcome, through service to taking payments, receiving feedback and saying goodbye
- - Take customer orders accurately and efficiently including noting any allergies and dietary requriements accurately
- - Support and work alongside other members of the front of house team
- Serve afternoon teas, drinks and meals- Handle transactions accurately
- - Assist with restocking inventory and ordering.
- -Record daily takings, staff hours and tips.
- - Follow opening up and close-down procedures
- - Support the duty supervisors and kitchen team as requested or required
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing any questions or concerns and ensuring everyone has a positive and memorable experience- Upsell menu items, wines and promote specials to increase sales- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of front of house areas. Ensure customer's expectations are clearly set and exceeded on every occasion.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is required
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively and reliability
- Basic maths skills for cash handling and order calculations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures
- Barista experience to a professional standard is preferred but not mandatory
Supervisor experience is also helpful but not a necessity as the successful applicant will need to understand the be able to deliver to the highest standards and with discipline while still exuding the warmest of welcomes.
