Overview
The Activities Co-ordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in care homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and senior care environments. This position involves planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of residents, particularly those with dementia. The Activities Co-ordinator will work closely with staff, families, and residents to create a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate group activities, outings, and events that encourage participation and foster community spirit.
- Assess the individual needs of residents to ensure activities are appropriate for their physical and cognitive capabilities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and gather feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate their effectiveness regularly.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate therapeutic activities into the care plans for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations within the care environment.

- Strong understanding of dementia care principles and best practices in senior care settings.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
