We have an exciting opportunity for two ESOL Lecturers to join our vibrant and dedicated Adult Skills Department. Reporting to the ESOL Team Leader, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to transform our students lives by giving them the tools they need to reach their aspirations.

The purpose of this role is to design and deliver high quality ESOL courses to learners aged 16-18 & 19+.


Responsibilities include:

  • To teach on ESOL and/or other courses specified by the Curriculum Area Manager/Team Leader within the college and in the community.
  • To participate actively in the development of the curriculum
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling, and initial assessment of students on college courses either in the community or on the college sites.
  • To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners to drive their progress in learning, and to meet/ exceed their targets and enable them to reach their career goals
  • To be responsible for student’s academic progress, wellbeing, positive behaviour, and careers throughout their learning journey.
  • To seek out and respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning
  • To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
  • To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.
  • To implement and promote College regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.

As part of the government targeted retention payment scheme you may be eligible for a payment of up to £6000 dependent on the subject/courses you teach.


Education & Training

  • Level 5 CELTA or TESOL, or a Level 5 ESOL subject specialism
  • Level 5 teaching qualification or working towards this qualification.
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English & Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Experience of ESOL delivery
  • Experience of effectively using educational ILT
  • Experience of delivering FE including assessment
  • Experience of adopting a data driven approach to improving learning, teaching & assessment
