Reporting to the Head of Legal Technology, the Document Automation Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automated document solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in document creation and management processes. This role requires a strong understanding of document automation technologies and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to streamline workflows.
This is a fixed term opportunity for a period of six months.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Use document automation software such as Contract Express and Document Drafter to automate document suites from start to finish alongside the legal experts.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the firm, collaborating with stakeholders including Legal Technologists and Knowledge Development Lawyers to identify document automation needs and opportunities in each practice group, and develop tailored solutions to meet business requirements.
- Maintain templates, forms, and workflows to ensure consistency and compliance in document production.
- Act as main point of contact for the technology vendor and conduct periodic testing after upgrades including troubleshooting of existing automated document suites.
- Provide training and support to users on document automation tools and processes.
- Supervise trainees delivering document automation projects as part of the firm’s Russell Up innovation scheme.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of document automation systems and recommend improvements as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in document automation technologies to ensure best practices are applied
- Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, and Principles
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in document automation in a law firm or a similar role and an understanding of document automation best practice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design efficient workflows.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in document production.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
