About 9fin

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data.

Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our mission is to change this.

9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time.

Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

The role

At 9fin, we've built a dedicated Data Operations team in Belfast to enhance our data processing capabilities.

You'll be part of a highly skilled team focused on ensuring high-quality, lightning-fast data is delivered to our platform, enabling our clients to act with speed and confidence.

You'll work closely with teams in New York, London, and Belfast across Leveraged Finance, Structured Credit, Private Credit, and Distressed Debt.

What you’ll work on

Every day brings new challenges, and the team’s responsibilities will continue to expand.

Associate - News Team

Providing fast, reliable news and market data across a wide range of financial markets is no small task. Our team uses cutting-edge technology to source, analyse, and publish the most relevant information for our clients.

Here’s a snapshot of what you might work on:

  • Leverage proprietary technology – Understand and navigate HTML, using 9fin’s in-house tools to automate publishing and streamline data workflows.

  • Monitor and review market-moving news – Identify price-sensitive information in articles surfaced by our in-house aggregator.

  • Track financial results and company performance – Ensure timely updates on earnings publications and corporate disclosures.

  • Portfolio management – You will take ownership of your portfolio of companies within a specific industry, ensuring that all investor relations details are accurately maintained and up to date. You’ll be responsible for monitoring and recording key reporting dates, ensuring they are accurately tracked and updated on internal and client facing platforms.

  • Analyse new deal terms and structures – Act fast to alert clients to key developments in the market.

  • Stay ahead of ratings changes – Keep track of company ratings updates and ensure they are accurately reflected in our systems.

  • Publish structured credit updates – Cover CLO deal alerts and other structured credit market movements.

  • Monitor redemptions and maturities – Conduct checks on bond and loan redemptions, updating relevant datasets and client alerts.

About You

If you are a graduate or recent graduate with some or all of the following attributes, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Team player – You enjoy working collaboratively, supporting those around you, and contributing to shared success.

  • Growth mindset – You believe that dedication and hard work drive improvement, and you’re always looking to develop new skills.

  • Strong attention to detail – You have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify key information and act on it.

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately – You thrive in a fast-paced environment, where monitoring multiple sources of information and making rapid, informed decisions is key.

  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks – You are adept at managing competing priorities, ensuring that the most important tasks are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Curiosity about financial markets and business – While prior knowledge isn’t required, you have a keen interest in how markets, companies, and financial news interact.

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo – You see how things could be done better and aren’t afraid to speak up with ideas for improvement.

  • Communication skills – You can convey information clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.

  • Flexibility required – Due to our global operations, you will work a rotational shift pattern, alternating between an EU shift (8 AM – 5 PM UK time) and a US shift (1 PM – 10 PM UK time). The schedule will be determined by the team, and you should be comfortable with periods where your working hours will differ from standard UK office hours.

This role is well suited to those with backgrounds in business, data analytics, journalism, or other disciplines requiring strong analytical and communication skills. More than specific experience, we’re looking for individuals who can work at pace, spot what matters, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
