Job Advert Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Coroners Officer based in Powys.


What you will be doing?


You will co-ordinate the investigation of sudden, violent, suspicious or unnatural deaths whilst also assisting the HM Coroners in legal, and public protection duties, removing other staff from unnecessary involvement.

You will be required to:
  • Attend scenes of death, examine and ascertain identity of body and arranging removal whilst ensuring that personal property is safeguarded and premises secured.
  • Assess and investigate reports of sudden, violent, suspicious or unnatural deaths for which a certificate has not been issued.
  • Liaise with bereaved, investigating officers, Coroners and pathologists.
  • Prepare inquest files and give evidence of facts known at inquest.

This role supports agile working; however, you must live within the local geographical area due to the attendance at local court and scenes of death. You will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
