The Home
St Peters Care Home is a highly regarded residential care home in Herne Bay for the elderly. St Peters has been rated as GOOD by CQC. Our aim is to enable our residents to achieve a meaningful and fulfilling life, and to give them a high sense of wellbeing through the way we engage and interact with them individually.
The Role
Carry out all cleaning duties in the kitchen area in accordance with the work schedule including.
- To carry out the catering of the home at the highest possible standards.
- To ensure all food to be prepared, cooked, stored and presented in accordance with the highest standards.
- Religious, personal, cultural, liquidised diets and special needs to be fully catered for.
- Residents to be asked which choice they prefer at every meal.
- To present food in a manner that is attractive and appealing.
- To familiarise yourself with the law and policies relating to food hygiene.
- To maintain a very high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen e.g. working surfaces, equipment, utensils and storage places etc.
- To adhere to and sign the daily cleaning rota.
- To take food temperature controls and record daily.
- For safety in the kitchen you are to ensure that precautions are taken to minimise the risk of accidents.
- To report to the carer in charge/manager any health hazards/faulty equipment that you notice.
- To ensure that any spillage of any material on the floor etc is immediately disposed of.
- To follow and reinforce all health and safety policies and procedures, especially basic food hygiene.
- To familiarise yourself with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.
- To participate and attend in relevant staff and resident meetings.
- To attend training sessions as required. All staff working in the Kitchen to attend the Food and Hygiene course and obtain the certificate.
- Ensuring that the hygiene standards within the kitchen meet Local Environment Health Department requirements, this includes labelling of samples.
- To line manage staff as required by Home Manager.
Experience:
Experience is essential training and guidance will be provided to the successful candidates.
Confirmation of all appointments is subject to proof of Eligibility to Work in the UK, satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
