NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a fixed term post for 23 months working full time hours (37) over Monday to Friday
NHSGGC CAMHS have launched a Waiting List Team with the specific purpose of reducing lists in the 3 Tier 3 CAMHS teams with the longest waits for assessment and intervention. There are currently 2 full-time fixed term posts (Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) ) in the team and an opportunity has arisen to add another to the team. Newly qualifying or soon to qualify Psychologists are welcome to apply. You will be expected to work under the supervision of the Principle Psychologist delivering assessments and prescribed interventions with training and supervision. Psychological interventions are a key part of the care delivered.
You will be part of a grouping of more than 100 Psychologists in Specialist Children’s Services and of around 350 Psychologists in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. There are good links both to the West of Scotland Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme (University of Glasgow) and to the MSc in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People (University of Edinburgh).
This post will focus on a targeted project to reduce the longest waits in CAMHS with a particular focus on assessment and short interventions to support young people to get timely treatment and then be discharged. This post will require a different way of working and will be as part of a small team who will have targeted work to reduce waiting times – it is anticipated there will be a focus on neurodevelopmental assessments. Job plans will not be within a standardised CAPA model but rather developed as a specific waiting list work. This post will be line managed by the clinical coordinator within the CAMHS team and work allocated accordingly. If you are looking for a new challenge with service innovation and development to support timely care in line with realistic medicine then we are keen to talk to you.
