Job Title: Residential Care Worker – Children’s Home
Location: Handsworth, Birmingham
Salary: £26,000 – £29,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About Us
Beacon Childcare provides safe, nurturing, and high-quality residential care for children and young people. Our established home in Handsworth supports children with complex needs and challenging behaviours, many of whom have experienced trauma and require consistent, therapeutic care.
We are now seeking dedicated and resilient Residential Care Workers to join our experienced team in Handsworth. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people, supporting them to achieve their potential in a stable, caring environment.
The Role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will be part of a supportive team providing day-to-day care, guidance, and encouragement to children and young people aged 8–18. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, enabling young people to build resilience, independence, and positive futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people.
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a role model.
- Support children with education, daily routines, and leisure activities.
- Encourage independence and develop essential life skills.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
- Keep accurate records and contribute to care plans and reviews.
- Work flexibly on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
About You
- Experience working with children and young people (residential experience desirable but not essential).
- NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (or willingness to work towards it with full training and support provided).
- Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed practice.
- Resilient, caring, and committed to making a difference.
- Flexible and reliable, with a strong team ethic.
