Job overview
Are you a brilliant communicator, preferably with communication skills that extend to communicating through the use of British Sign Language (BSL).
You should be someone who thrives from working in an outstanding support team and gets a buzz out of supporting young people with special educational needs, those who are Hearing Impaired and learners with autism.
Are you positive and solution focused? We are looking for Learning Support Officers on a variety of contracts to work with students on a one to one and group basis, supporting them to access mainstream, supported curriculum areas and work experience and helping them to achieve and exceed their goals and ambitions at college.
You'll be responsible for motivating, supporting and guiding your students through their learning journey; developing support plans and learning strategies alongside curriculum staff. Responsible for managing complex behaviours and ensuring learners are on track with their work and making progress against their Education Health Care Plan outcomes, you'll play a key role in helping them get the most out of their experience at Gateshead College.
What we're looking for:
We'd like you to be as passionate as we are about delivering top quality training and helping student to build their confidence and skills.
It would be brilliant if you are capable at using BSL at Level 3.
You'll have experience of working with young people with SEN and Autism and will have completed or be willing to undertake, a teaching assistant qualification.
You should have had experience working in a specialist SEN setting and of managing complex behaviours.
