Cafe Cook
Roydon Marina Village is a unique set up with residential park homes, owned holiday lodges and hire fleet lodges as well as a busy marina, hotel and two onsite eateries. We're located in the beautiful Lee Valley Regional Park, a short 5-minute walk from Roydon railway station and central London is only a 30-minute train ride away.
The Boathouse Cafe Bar is set on the beautiful marina front. We have a 40-cover cafe with additional seating outside in the beer garden for the warmer months. We have a small but friendly kitchen and front of house team.
We are looking for an experienced cook to work in the Boathouse Café. The successful candidate will have two years previous experience preparing and cooking food in a small kitchen. You will be required to work weekends and cover other shift times including weekdays and evenings, so flexibility is essential.
Your role:
- Prepare and make all dishes to a high standard
- Take pride in the presentation and quality of food from your kitchen
- Create specials menus
- Offer ideas and feedback to management to consistently review and improve our menus
- Maintain a suitable level of stock, place orders and complete purchase orders
- Accurately check deliveries, reporting any shortages
- Communicate effectively with the cafe team and encourage an atmosphere of respect and co-working
- Support staff training, explaining dishes and allergen information to new starters
- Demonstrate a high level of food safety knowledge
- Be proficient in the understanding of the law regarding allergens
- Complete allergen information for dishes
- Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly paperwork is completed in the Safer Food Better Business records
- Ensure the correct labelling of products in fridges and freezers
- Check that all equipment is working safely and is compliant
- Maintain the cleanliness and care of the equipment and working areas
About The Role
About you:
- Be fluent in spoken and written English
- Hold Level 2 (and preferably Level 3) in food hygiene (can be provided)
- Have experience as a cook in a fast paced environment
- Highly organised and able to work alone and as part of a team
- Thrives working under pressure
- A flexible approach to working hours
- Competent understanding of food hygiene regulations
- Excited to learn new skills and ways of working
