Could you help guide our work in Leicestershire?
Our teams helped over 31,000 people and put £14 million back into their pockets in 2023/24 in Leicestershire.
These aren't just statistics; they are lives changed and crises averted. But the challenges our communities face are always evolving, and to keep up, so must we. That’s why we’re looking for two new Trustees to join our board and help us figure out what comes next.
What does a Trustee actually do here?
This isn't a typical board role. We need people who will help us steer the ship, working with our CEO and the rest of the board to make the big decisions.
Your job is to be the person in the room who asks the important questions. You'll challenge our thinking, champion our mission, and make sure we stay focused on what truly matters: providing the best possible support for our community. You'll help us stay strong, smart and sustainable.
We're looking for people, not just CVs.
We need thoughtful, strategic people who genuinely care about social justice. While we're open to all sorts of experience, you might be a great fit if you're someone who:
- Thinks in numbers and systems: maybe your background is in finance, risk or even data ethics.
- Understands what makes an organisation tick: perhaps your expertise is in HR, team wellbeing or organisational culture.
- Knows how to tell a story and connect with people: you might have a background in marketing, communications or building strong networks.
- Sees how to use tech and business for good: experience in project management or digital strategy would be a huge asset.
That's just a wishlist, not a rigid checklist. Your personal connection to our mission is what matters most. We believe life experience can be just as valuable as professional skills, so if you think you can contribute, we really want to hear from you.
"Being a trustee for Citizens Advice allows me the opportunity to use my skills to the benefit of others.”
— John Walters, current Trustee
Why join us
This is your chance to be part of the impact. Our whole team lives by a few simple values: We Care, We Help, We Excel, We Challenge. As a Trustee, you’ll be at the heart of that.
It's a voluntary role, and we know you're busy. The board meets for about 2.5 hours every two months in the evening, and we'll cover expenses.
