Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and processing housing and planning benefit claims. This role requires a detailed understanding of relevant legislation and policies to ensure accurate and timely benefit assessments. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and verifying documentation submitted by applicants to determine eligibility for benefits.
- Calculating benefit entitlements in accordance with current regulations and guidelines.
- Communicating with applicants to gather additional information or clarify discrepancies in their applications.
- Maintaining accurate records of all assessments and decisions made.
- Collaborating with other departments and external agencies as needed to support the assessment process.
- Providing guidance and support to applicants in understanding their benefit entitlements and the application process.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with applicants and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workload efficiently.
- Proficient in using relevant IT systems and software for data entry and record-keeping.
- Understanding of relevant housing and planning benefit legislation and policies.
- Previous experience in a similar role or environment is desirable.
