The Great Western Auctions Ltd., established in 1989, is one of Scotland's leading independent Auction Houses.
Sales calendar includes fortnightly Antiques and Collectable Auctions, Quarterly Fine Art and Antiques Auctions, dedicated Specialist and Timed Auctions.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a stimulating environment for someone with a desire to progress within the industry.
We are looking for a proactive and organised all-rounder to join our auction house team.
About the role
- You will help with all day-to-day preparations for auction sales
- This may also involve lifting and laying of furniture.
- This particular role will require candidates to be physically fit and comfortable with heavy lifting.
Duties (but not limited to):
- Photographing lots for online and printed catalogues.
- Logistics: packing and posting items.
- Helping to unpack, prepare and set up lots within salerooms for viewing and auction days.
- Assisting with the preparation of online and printed auction catalogues.
- Customer deliveries, collections and associated paperwork, stock management
- Operating bidding platforms and back office systems.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE should have a positive working attitude and the following qualities.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience in handling Antiques and Collectables is preferable, but not essential.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good customer skills (in person, telephone, email, social media).
- Excellent computer and internet skills (Word, Excel, etc).
- Successful candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
- A desire and willingness to learn.
Additional Information
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday (9am - 5pm).
- Job Type: Full time, On-site.
- Salary: dependent on experience and age.
