What is the Opportunity?
You will support the Director, High Risk Client Management Europe in leading and overseeing the High Risk Client Management teams. The role will primarily cover the RBC Wealth businesses in Europe but will also incorporate other RBC platforms as required - including GAM, IS, Capital Markets and Enterprise Strategic Clients. The Associate Director will deputise for the Director, High Risk Client Management Europe in the day-to-day management and ongoing development of the High Risk Client Management Europe function. The Associate Director will supervise and line-manage (as required) the junior High Risk Client Management Europe staff.
What will you do?
Deputise for the Director, High Risk Client Management Europe
Meet all regulatory and legislative requirements; managing the accurate and timely completion of enhanced due diligence (EDD) research/investigations by the High Risk Client Management team to the highest standards in the design, implementation and execution of AML Client Risk Management programs across all business platforms in Europe.
Production of MI and Management Reporting, as required, pertaining to the High Risk Client Management Europe program.
Line manage junior High Risk Client Management Europe team members.
Complete EDD and AML client risk assessments in relation to RBC’s highest risk clients and Enterprise Strategic Clients, to protect RBC from financial crime and associated reputational risk.
Lead on aspects of the development of the Global High Risk Client Management framework.
Lead on projects to support regulatory mandated remediation's where risk assessments.
Provide responses to Regulatory Authorities and Law Enforcement Agencies.
Provide AML counsel and guidance to the Front Office, Compliance, Legal, Operations and other functions on the firm's high risk clients and risk rating framework.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Proven track record within second line of defence AML/EDD roles, including detailed knowledge and experience of AML client risk assessment approaches and methodologies, EDD practices and policy development.
Hold a degree and have, or be working towards, a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ICA Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering) as well as possessing and being able to demonstrate knowledge, application and experience.
Very good understanding of the UK AML and CTF, Economic Sanctions and ABAC legal and regulatory environment; as well as the requirements of the UK Proceeds of Crime Act, Terrorism Act and UK Bribery Act and the FCA SYSC requirements.
Strong experience of conducting money laundering / terrorist financing investigations in either a law enforcement or financial institution environment;
Good understanding of the international AML/CTF, Economic Sanctions and ABAC laws.
The Associate Director must possess a strong technical product knowledge across Wealth Management, Capital Markets and GAM, ideally possessing or working towards a relevant qualification in product mechanics.
