As a Plumbing Apprentice, under the supervision of qualified plumbers, you’ll gradually take on more advanced tasks. Core duties include:
Supporting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems—sinks, toilets, showers, radiators, boilers, and pipework
Measuring, cutting, threading, bending, and joining pipes using both hand and power tools (e.g. copper, PEX, PVC)
Testing systems for leaks using water or air pressure gauges, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
Inspecting work and helping to diagnose plumbing faults; learning to read blueprints and technical drawings to assist installations accurately
Preparing and cleaning work areas—setting up tools and materials, and tidying up after jobs to maintain a safe environment
Transporting tools and material to job sites, and keeping inventory organized on the service vehicle or van
Holding tools, supplying materials, and acting as plumber’s assistant (e.g. flashlight, tool handoffs, pipe prep) especially in early stages of apprenticeship
Assisting with customer service—helping explain basic work performed, answering questions under supervision, maintaining professional conduct
Hours: 40.00 per week

You will attend Exeter College one day a week and undertake the Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship.
