About the Role
We’re seeking a motivated AI Launchpad Associate (Junior AI Developer) to join our AI Launchpad Scheme — a graduate-style programme designed to develop future AI professionals.
In this placement, you’ll gain hands-on experience working within our Engineering team, contributing to the design, development, and testing of AI solutions that directly impact public services. You’ll get exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Prompt Engineering, while developing practical coding and software engineering skills in Microsoft Azure and .NET environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior developers and architects with the design and build of AI solutions using .NET, Azure, and AI frameworks
- Complete development tasks and user stories within project backlogs
- Support in coding, debugging, and testing AI features, including LLM- and RAG-based applications
- Contribute to prompt engineering and fine-tuning activities under supervision
- Help investigate and resolve issues raised during User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Prepare and maintain documentation, handover notes, and technical artefacts
- Research and trial new AI approaches (e.g. Generative AI tools, Agentic AI frameworks) under guidance
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong interest in AI, particularly Generative AI and Large Language Models
- Demonstrable coding experience in an object-oriented language such as C#
- Exposure to SQL databases
- Curiosity and adaptability with a willingness to learn quickly
- Clear communication and teamwork skills
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini (desirable)
- Relevant degree (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent practical experience
