POSITION : ACTIVITY COORDINATOR
RESPONSIBLE TO : HOME / CARE MANAGER
REPORTS TO : NURSE-IN-CHARGE
PURPOSE OF POSITION
TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE OCCUPATIONAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR ALL SERVICE USERS.
1 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 To initiate and implement therapeutic and meaningful activities for the benefit of all service users, as per individual’s capabilities and in accordance with their wishes and preferences
1.2 To liaise with external entertainers, therapists and groups in order to provide a varied program of events.
1.3. To encourage outings and organise short trips and complete relevant risk assessments of same.
1.4 To encourage and facilitate regular Reminiscence therapy.
1.5. To organise Birthday, Garden and Tea Parties
1.6 To meet regularly with all residents, or their representatives, and work with them to ensure that their individual needs in relation to social contact and activity is supported.
1.7 To maintain documentary evidence of all activities.
1.8 To create, publish and display a weekly timetable of events and activities.
1.9 Document individuals participation and level of involvement within the service users care records.
1.10 To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team inorder to provide high quality person centred care and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings as necessary.
1.11 Any other duties that are reasonably requested by your manager; such as, escorting a service user to a hospital appointment or assisting a service user with their nutritional or hydration needs.
- Observe the following in relation to the Home’s Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
2.1 Maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to residents and to the Home.
2.2 Be fully aware of and strictly adhere to the Home’s Health and Safety Policy
2.3 Be familiar with and strictly adhere to the Home’s Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures.
2.4 Report any incident / untoward occurrences and accidents to the Person-in-charge.
2.5 Be familiar with the Control of Infection Policy and the measures to prevent cross infection /
infestations. Report any suspicion of such.
2.6 Exercise due care in the use and storage of equipment and report any damage.
2.7 Report any complaint that residents, visitors or staff express.
2.8 Be fully aware of the Home’s Safeguarding Policy and report any concerns relating to the safety and wellbeing of service users without delay to the person in charge or to the local safeguarding authority.
- In-Service Training and Staff Development
3.1 Participate fully in your induction programme.
3.2 Attend fire lectures, fire drills, staff meetings and training sessions as instructed.
3.3 Through guided supervision and appraisals identify learning needs and be proactive with your line manager in ensuring that any planned learning objectives are met.
4 Health & Safety

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 36 per week
