Here at Peter Thompson of York we are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join our back-office team in York. You will be part of a hard-working team who strive to provide excellent customer service and attention to detail.
The role:
This role provides support to the Financial Director.
You must be accurate and proficient in numeracy. You will be capable of working independently and be able to understand, investigate and resolve accounting and general administrative queries.
The successful applicant with be methodical, accurate and be capable of working to deadlines. You must have a positive outlook together with a professional attitude and be confident in dealing with both internal management and employees. You must have experience with Sage 50 Accounts, Microsoft Office. IRIS payroll and be AAT level 3 qualified or above.
Part Time – 24 hours per week. 4 days per week 9am to 3pm preferable (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
Key Tasks Include assisting with:
- Ensuring correct invoice authorisation before processing
- Sales/purchase/Internal ledger processing
- Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes
- Posting invoices into the accounting system
- Assisting with supplier BACS payment
- Managing weekly payment runs and issuing remittances
- Creating financial statements
- Follow up on all invoice/payment queries in a timely manner
- Responding to supplier queries in a timely and professional manner
- Carrying out monthly supplier statement reconciliations
- Reconcile and process monthly credit card statements
- Collating weekly timesheets from production teams
- Entering all payroll data into software system
- Uploading pension contributions to the pension provider
- Preparing payroll journals and summary reports
- Preparing payments and submitting to HMRC
- Preparing CIS returns
- Transfer of data into financial spreadsheets
- Bank Reconciliation
- VAT returns
- Assist with cashflow
- Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts

Knowledge and Experience Required:
· Excellent communication and organisation skills both verbal and written.
· Highly proficient in Excel and MS office.
· Sage 50 Accounts
· IRIS Payroll
· Numerate and methodical in approach
· AAT Level 3 or above
