We’re on the lookout for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help shape the way we manage risk at First Central Insurance Management. In this role, you’ll be right at the heart of our first line of defence, making sure our risk management is not only solid but smart and efficient. You’ll be building and embedding controls that work, while keeping our stakeholders informed and engaged.

  • Risk Expertise: Deep understanding of risk management and how to apply it to build a proactive, forward-thinking risk culture.
  • Stakeholder Management: Confident working with senior stakeholders, clearly communicating risk issues and collaborating across teams, including 2nd and 3rd line governance.
  • Pragmatic Problem-Solving: Able to balance technical risk knowledge with business goals, working towards shared risk, consumer, and commercial outcomes.

Here’s a glimpse of what we can offer:

  • Starting salary from £49,700 - £60,000, depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday, no weekends!

What’s involved:

  • You’ll provide clear guidance on risk and compliance to stakeholders to support delivery of business priorities
  • You’ll develop and maintain robust governance frameworks (in line with the Risk framework) to ensure that a strong control environment exists with risk and control accountabilities clearly defined
  • You’ll support the delivery of control actions across the department working with the Senior Risk Manager to ensure controls are effective and actions delivered in line with target actions
  • You’ll champion best practice governance through continual process enhancement and improvement
  • You’ll support the annual attestation programme of work for core processes, providing 1st line challenge to the core process owners
  • You’ll provide specialist Risk Management support and challenge to the FCIM function leading to the identification and assessment of risks and risk controls across the function, required to meet strategic goals.
  • You’ll do risk and loss event identification, management, resolution and reporting, including provision of support to members of FCIM
  • You’ll support the embedding of a risk aware culture and better risk ownership amongst the business
  • You’ll engage with both internal and external stakeholders on all risk matters
  • You’ll coordinate and oversee the delivery of all actions associated with FCIM risk
  • You’ll maintain the Risk Register and Risk Mitigation Action Log for FCIM related risks
  • You’ll work with 2nd and 3rd line Governance teams to continuously enhance ways of working and support the evolution of our governance frameworks and decision making

Experience & knowledge

  • You’ve demonstrable Risk Management and experience at an appropriate level
  • You’ve knowledge of Financial Services market and regulatory framework
  • You’ve knowledge of General Insurance products
  • You’ve used and understand the Protecht risk management system

Skills & Qualifications

  • You’ve some knowledge of risk management techniques
  • You’re a great communicator, both verbal and written
  • Organisation and timekeeping are second nature to you, balancing your workload effectively
  • You’ve excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • You’ve business skills around problem solving and root cause analysis
  • You’ve the capacity to think across a range of business functions and systems
