The opportunity The Pathway Leader in Woven Textiles is responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and ongoing scholarly work within the BA Textile Design course at Central Saint Martins, part of the Jewellery, Textiles and Materials Programme. The post-holder will lead the woven textiles pathway, providing academic and pastoral support to second- and third-year students, and working collaboratively with the course team to develop an inclusive and forward-thinking curriculum. Key duties include teaching and assessment in woven textiles, curriculum innovation, student engagement, and maintaining academic standards. The role involves contributing to strategic planning, quality assurance, and initiatives that enhance student experience and outcomes. The post-holder is also expected to remain informed on current debates such as decolonising the curriculum and addressing awarding gaps, and to participate in relevant university committees and course reviews. Your profile The ideal candidate will have a degree in textile design or a related field, with a teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) considered an advantage. They should have strong knowledge of woven textile processes in both academic and industry contexts, including digital tools. Experience in higher education teaching and assessment is essential, along with a reflective, inclusive, and innovative teaching approach. The candidate should demonstrate relevant research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice in woven textiles. Strong teamwork, course management experience, and the ability to plan and manage resources effectively are key, with leadership experience seen as a plus.
