Xcelerate Academy is a successful weekend tuition centre based in Derby, offering small-group and one-to-one tuition for KS3 and GCSE students in Maths, English, and Science. With a 100% GCSE pass rate in 2023/24, we’re committed to providing high-quality academic support while building student confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
We’re currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Tutor to join our team. Beyond subject knowledge, we value tutors who create a positive, supportive learning environment where students enjoy attending each weekend and feel confident to participate and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging, structured Maths lessons to small groups of KS3 and/or GCSE students.
- Build a classroom culture that encourages student confidence, participation, and consistent progress.
- Adapt and deliver lessons using resources and syllabuses provided by the Academy.
- Track and report on student progress.
- Maintain strong communication with students, parents, and the management team.
- Optional: Deliver one-to-one tuition sessions (in-person or online) based on demand and your availability.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths (ideally up to GCSE Higher).
- Familiarity with GCSE exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR).
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
- Friendly, patient, and professional.
- Able to foster a motivating and supportive learning environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
Details:
- Group sessions run on Saturdays and Sundays (typically 9am–12pm). Afternoon hours may also be available.
- One-to-one tutoring opportunities are available throughout the week or weekends (online/in-person).
- Small group sizes (maximum 10 students) ensure effective support.
- Teaching materials and schemes of work are provided in advance.
Pay: £20-£27 per hour (based on experience)
