Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Warehouse Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our online delivery service by assisting with various tasks related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Hours of work - 44.42 hours
Monday to Friday - 7.00am to 4.30pm (1 hour unpaid break)
25 Saturdays - 8.00am to 12.00pm
Duties
- To correctly pick and package all items leaving the Warehouse area, ensuring the product and delivery labels are securely attached.
- To correctly accept and document the receipt of goods from suppliers.
- To update stock records and liaise with the Branch Manager to ensure maintenance of agreed stock levels.
- To help load and unload goods from lorries, ensuring safe handling of materials.
- To support with the introduction of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory levels and stock movements by the end of the year.
- Maintain an organised warehouse environment by properly stocking shelves and managing inventory.
- Conduct quality control checks on incoming and outgoing products to ensure compliance with standards.
- Handle materials with care, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Eventually to operate forklifts as required, following all safety guidelines - full training will be given.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the warehouse space.
- Support the other Yard Operatives on an adhoc basis, if the Warehouse has any quiet periods.
Skills
- Proficient in shipping and receiving processes.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the role.
- Competence in operating forklifts safely (certification will be provided if required).
- Excellent attention to detail for quality control purposes.
- Strong materials handling skills to manage various types of goods within the warehouse.
