Waking night support worker
Treetops are recruiting waking night staff for our children homes. This is a great opportunity for experienced candidates committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
You will play a critical care role through the night. You will ensure that our children are cared for in line with the care plans. You will provide active observation, PACE informed intervention, and seek additional support as required from sleep-in or on call colleagues.
The shift pattern is 22:00 - 08:00.
The candidate will:
- Have demonstrable experience of acting ethically, with integrity and empathy as well as a commitment to working towards these values
- Be confident in being able to support young people with emotional behavioural difficulties, this includes the ability to manage challenging behaviour appropriately
- Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and working inclusively
- Have demonstrable knowledge, empathy and awareness of the issues faced by young people and an understanding of how this may affect behaviour
- Act as a role model, advocate and champion for young people
- Be confident in being able to work with young people on a 121 basis and alongside a team
- Constantly strive to promote company values and high standards of professional practice, ensuring positive culture within the home is maintained.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in supporting vulnerable young people preferably in a residential children's home
- Evidence of training or qualifications undertaken relevant to the role
- Awareness of Ofsted frameworks and legislation relevant to young people
- Ability to keep clear and accurate records / complete administration tasks
Full UK driving license - essential
Candidates are required to complete an enhanced DBS check and register on the update service, provide details of gaps in employment, a full employment history and references covering the last 5 years. Where candidates have worked with vulnerable groups for over 5 years, further verification checks will be completed. Where applicants have lived/worked overseas an overseas Criminal Record Check will be required
