Upholsterer/coach trimmer job advert
Phoenix Bussing has been supplying sleeper buses for the music industry since 1988 and during that time it has successfully grown from the original four converted buses (built by the founding member in a tiny garage in the middle of the New Forest) to a fleet of purpose-built double decker luxury buses. Our superb, modern fleet are all 45ft (14m) in length and the interiors are built and maintained by our own team of highly skilled carpenters, electricians, mechanics, upholsterers and body shop staff.
We have an opportunity for an experienced upholsterer/coach trimmer to join our busy team. The role would suit a highly motivated team player with an excellent eye for detail who is able to work to a high standard in a fast-paced environment and use their own initiative.
This role requires a candidate who has at least three years of upholstery experience, ideally high-end, bespoke upholstery with a passion for producing high quality products. Must be experienced in communicating with the carpentry and electrician teams, working from drawings and be able to take a design through from the beginning stages of design to drawing, pattern cutting, sewing, upholstery and installation.
Main duties:
- Complete work to a high level.
- Be able to work from instructions, take criticism and use requests to produce accurate and functional products.
- Be proactive in the planning of work to ensure all problems and delays are avoided where possible.
- Have an interest in learning new skills and taking on projects which require some development.
- Keep a clean and tidy workshop.
- Use industrial sewing machines daily.
- Work with a variety of people to ensure a happy team with good quality products.
Skills and experience required:
- High level of upholstery and sewing skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Able to produce high quality patterns, sewing and upholstery.
- 3 years of experience and knowledge in pattern making, sewing and upholstery.
- Competent with industrial sewing machines and a variety of upholstery tools such as staple guns, foam cutters, drills, heat guns and spray glue.
- Knowledge of foams, springs, automotive interiors and sewing.
- Ability to make templates, patterns, use leather, vinyl and various other materials.
- Able to multitask with various projects, meet deadlines, be flexible to the needs of the company and adapt to changing workshop priorities.
