Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimising transport operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions for our logistics needs. This position requires strong organisational skills, proficiency in IT applications, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Tracking and monitoring drivers on the road.
- Owning the weekly rota to ensure driver coverage for all contracted work.
- Allocating jobs based on driver skills and licence categories.
- Liaising with drivers and customers to resolve delays, cancellations, or issues.
- Maintaining accurate job records and compliance.
- Handling real-time operational challenges, from breakdowns to re-routing.
- Taking part in the on-call rota, resolving around 8–10 driver support calls per weekend (all handled remotely over the phone).
- Experience working in a transport operations environment.
- Manage driver availability and identify opportunities to drive revenue.
- Utilize IT systems and software, including Outlook and Excel, to manage schedules, track shipments, and maintain accurate records.
- Handle customer inquiries professionally, ensuring high levels of satisfaction through effective communication.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance in all transport activities.
Role will be reporting to the Director.
Qualifications
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in IT applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Excel).
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on building positive relationships.
- Demonstrated computer literacy with the ability to adapt to new software quickly.
- Strong command of English, both written and verbal, for effective communication across all levels of the organisation.
- Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics role is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive approach with the drive to improve processes and enhance service delivery.

Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
