Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our team. this role is initially for 3 days per week and salary would be on a pro-rata basis, but will lead to a full time position for the right person. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimising transport operations and ensuring efficient movement of goods. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Transport Planner will work closely with the Director and Drivers
For the right person there will also be the opportunity to progress and become a transport manager with in the business and training and qualifications will be provided and support throughout the journey.
Duties
- Develop and implement transport plans that maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Communicate effectively with customers to understand their transport requirements and provide exceptional customer service.
- Manage relationships with external transport providers and negotiate contracts as necessary.
- Utilise software tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and other IT applications for planning and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on building long-term relationships.
- Be an integral part of a small team in the office and liaise with drivers
- High level of computer literacy and IT proficiency.
- Strong command of English, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Previous experience in transport planning or logistics is advantageous but not essential.
